Autonomous Warfare Command added to watch list
The Pentagon announced plans on 30 September 2026 to stand up a new four-star Autonomous Warfare Command (AutoWarCom) by 1 October 2027. The command would consolidate autonomy, drones, and AI-enabled C2 under a single requirements and acquisition authority. Stand-up depends on congressional action through the NDAA; no commander, budget line, or headcount has been named. An interim 30-day plan (Project Agincourt) is underway.
